Why I am Enamored by Social Media

Posted on Jan 19, 2009 by Joe in Social Media | 2 Comments

My friend Kevin left a comment on my goals and objectives post asking me to explain why I was “enamored by social media”.  So I took a good long while to think about it because its important to explain why social media is revolutionizing the way people do business or act.

There are four main reasons that I love the whole slew of social media out on the Internets:

1. Your Google Search Results Page is your new Corporate Home Page – It takes work to control what google says about you.

2. Facebook Foibles Could Cost You Your Career - or your degree.

3. The new resume is your social media presence.  Your blog, and mainly your google search results are the new resume.  Also see: here, here, and here.

4. It helps me figure out what I want to do next and it could help you too!

What I think about social media is of no consequence. What matters is what you think!  Oh and I’d love to chat about with you about your thoughts, so leave a comment!
